As Hanny’s Voorwerp said itself, on twitter (!), it’s in the spotlights a lot again lately. And I do realise lots of people are waiting to see another picture of Hanny’s Voorwerp – one taken with the Hubble Space Telescope – but this is very cool too!
I love Google. Edd asked it to send me ‘alerts’ with links when my Voorwerp is mentioned somewhere on the net and recently it reported a Dutch forum about astronomy. A guy called Gerrit van der Veen took a picture of Hanny’s Voorwerp from Friesland (The Netherlands) and posted it there.
I asked his permission to add it to my collection as well and here it is. – Thanks Gerrit!

Amazing to see this picture taken from an Earth bound telescope that’s not up a mountain somewhere (I assume) It is clearly recognisable as Hanny’s Voorwerp. Pictures like this make me want to get into astrophotography. I would love to have a picture and say “Hey, I took that”. Great, Hanny thanks for sharing this. x
No nails on this one, but nice picture Gerrit. Thanks for sharing.
Hi Hanny! You can put me on the list of people anxious to see the Hubble images of your voorwerp too. I tried to image it with my setup and managed to get IC 2497 but maybe only the slightest hint of Kermit.
Hi Ted! Cool, can I see?
