We had a couple of more or less official Zooniverse get-togethers in Oxford before, but I think with this one we’ve established it’s going to be an annual event. Chris himself gathered a couple of Zoo team members to speak and we had a rather professional conference day this year. And it’s good to have an update on everything ‘Zoo’. I think us volunteers feel very involved (this way) and it’s fun to learn about the new things.
As an original Galaxy Zooite, I especially liked Karen’s recap on that particular project. I was also pleased to finally see Old Weather’s Phil Brohan in real life (I had interviewed him over Skype about his project for a documentary I made a while ago). And it was nice to see the Voorwerp mentioned a couple of times, under ‘weird things in the lost and found’. I didn’t take any detailed notes today, but I live-tweeted the highlights of these talks, so for future happenings you should really follow me on twitter, you know.
At the end of the day, Chris told us about life for Planet Hunters after Kepler and Zookeeper Rob gave an excellent look into the future for the Zooniverse. There was even a spoiler alert for the projects that only have working titles for now, but I managed to get a few shots of those. Without further explanation, I will show these teasers in the next blog! The one after that will be the last one about this lovely weekend, which involved a couple of pubs…
