Yes, you read that correctly and no, I didn’t change my name. But besides ‘Hanny’s Voorwerp’, there is now such a thing called ‘Hannah’s Voorwerp’. I’ll explain. A few weeks ago, I received this e-mail, from Australia:
Dear Hanny,
Yesterday I put the turret onto my home observatory. It occurred to me that all good observatories have a name and so I asked all my Facebook friends to suggest a good one. Given the fact that your first name and my second are somewhat similar, a friend came up with “Hannah’s Voorwerp”. And so, I thought before I formally named it, I should ask your permission. May I name the observatory in honour of your discovery?
Kind regards,
Paul Hannah.
How cool?! Obviously I gave this my blessings and Paul Hannah then sent me a couple of pictures. So here I present to you: Hannah’s Voorwerp!

How awesome! And I think it’s only fair if you gave Mr. Hannah a visit. You don’t want to go alone? Ok fine, I’ll join you. No problem!
Haha.. actually, he did invite us darlin’
You are both very welcome to visit. We have a couple of spare rooms and the observatory can take any overflow!
Paul.
Hannah’s Voorwerp!
Thanks Paul
Great story! But ehhhrrr… suppose Hannah Hutchins of the Galaxy Zoo has discovered another voorwerp, a ‘real’ voorwerp somewhere up in the sky, what name will be given to that voorwerp, Hannah’s-II Voorwerp?
Good point, Arie!
In that case I would drop the apostrophe and my voorwerp would then become plural and not possessive so named after both discoveries.
Please advise if this becomes necessary.
Hahaha, okay Paul!
