Ever since journalists started asking me how discovering Hanny’s Voorwerp changed my life, I’ve been writing an article about it in my head. I might never get round to actually putting it down on paper, but here’s just yet another example of something I wouldn’t have done if I hadn’t…
I met my boyfriend eight months ago, when he was in the audience listening to my lecture about the Voorwerp. And I made a couple of other friends at that stargazing weekend too. We made plans to get together and go out for dinner some time, which we did last month. Jan Willem and his wife Yvonne live close to the area in the Netherlands where you can find a lot of dolmens. So we went for a walk there, before dinner, and we took these pictures. And I’m sharing them here because I can.
These stones are impressively huge and they had a number of lichens on them.
That’s us in the background, for the scale effect.
Jan Willem, Yvonne and me. Thanks guys!
An entrance…
JW on top of one of the stones.
My handsome boyfriend.
We were frequently climbing on things; growing up is optional.
This went well, but when I slipped and fell in the mud later I was in good hands,
with two doctors around.
Outside the cosy restaurant. That night was the first this winter we saw snow –
more on that later.

It was a fun weekend, and we indeed were in good hands! The dolmens were fascinating. After 29 years I finally got to see them! For the people interested: The stone i’m sitting on is in an old druid pit. A place where people gathered and where justice was carried out.
Love seeing signs of early human existence. Love the Icicle pic too!
