I’m in the United Kingdom again, for the summer. I love hanging around here with friends and there’s lots to do that gives me that holiday feeling. Last year I had a great time too and I thought to share some pictures of last week-and-a-half…
To get to London on time for the Royal Astronomical Society picnic in Greenwich, I took the good old ferry and found they upgraded my cabin again – thanks Stenaline! The weather was too nice though to stay inside, when we headed for Harwich, and I stayed on deck until Hook-of-Holland-beach was only a little spot. Next morning Graham picked me up from Liverpool Street Station for breakfast and took me to the hill where Edd and a few other ‘zooites’ were already spread out on blankets. Mr Jules took these two pictures of me and Tommy and of Jules and me.
Tommy is one of the funniest guys I know and Jules showed me the Sun. Later in the week, Graham and I met for lunch in Richmond Park. Walking through it was like walking through a beautiful three dimensional painting. I took the following pictures of the view there and earlier Tower Bridge in central London.
Meanwhile Edd shares his nice new apartment with me – which is still in lovely Portsmouth. The first weekend we paid the Isle of Wight another visit, where I was happy to see the beach was as magnificent as last year. I went for a swim until the sea got too rough and enjoyed the perfect weather with a milkshake on our blanket. I didn’t take as many pictures as before, but I couldn’t resist this one of Edd and the funny fly who kept crawling in my bikini top!
We also went to the Blue Reef Aquarium, which is at the beach at Portsmouth. I love these animals and this place is a great educational visit too! Even though it’s hard to take pictures of creatures underwater and through glass, here’s Nemo’s friends, one of the playful otters, a gorgeous reptile and a curious Puffer fish. We learned that the latter is very poisonous and that its defence system of inflating can only be used up to approximately eight times!
…Next on the agenda are visits to London to see Queen’s musical and to attend a Galaxy Zoo meet-up. And it will be so nice.

Nice pictures. By the way, that solar telescope, a Coronado PST, did you see any sunspots with it?

Hi Hanny,
Do you have a new camera? very nice pictures indeed!
Thanks guys! They are taken with the camera I got for my birthday from Inf. And no Arie, but I think that was due to the fact there were almost no spots at that time.
And a lovely summer it has been so far too
