Today it’s Easter Sunday and today’s the day the famous Hubble Space Telescope will start looking in the direction of Hanny’s Voorwerp and its neighbour; galaxy IC 2497!
I promised a lot of people I’d tell them if I had any news, but I’m also pretty sure I told you all to watch this space for updates, as this is the easiest and fastest way to share information. For now it’s only going to be this announcement though. That’s mainly because in ‘astronomy land’ it takes relatively long to ‘process data’ (so I’ve learned), so it’ll probably take a while before we know anything more!
There is this other exciting thing though, but I can’t put that on the internet yet… Happy Easter!

This news just came in from Bill Keel: “Second Hubble images of Hanny’s Voorwerp scheduled for April 12, 1020-1300 UT. Advanced Camera filters for gas in [O III], H-alpha.”
Awesome! I’ll be checking in for updates. It’s been a long wait.
Hanny hope you will post some pictures happy easter Bill
Well, as soon as possible, but I wouldn’t hold my breath…
