Time flies. Eleven years ago, when I just had my last lesson before the exams, we had a disco evening in the canteen at school, which we called ‘beach party’. Nowadays we do it ‘prom night’ style, in a café. And two weeks ago that night arrived for our final year’s students.
My colleagues and I were dressed up too and waiting outside for the students to arrive. They’d all make a big entrance with limos and sirens and my boss welcomed them all personally. Weeks before girls had already discussed what they’d wear and it was great to see them having so much fun.
This evening was also planned to be my last one at this school as a Dutch language teacher, but fortunately they asked me to stay! And since I feel very much at home here, I didn’t need to think about it and have already started teaching physics and chemistry.
Anyway, here’s a picture of my colleague Fleur and I at the ball. We’re having a two-week-break now; the May Holiday. So I’d like to wish everyone a great time!
