The guys called me morbid for remarking – you know, one day we’ll all be dead and we can’t do this anymore, so are you enjoying it as much as I am – while we were walking away from the pub that evening. They assured me they did though. Els and I fell onto our cloud and hadn’t set an alarm. But don’t you often find yourself waking up early when you’re in a hotel room too? We did in any case and we’d planned to make most of this day before we had to head back that evening.
The Monday morning rush was over by the time Els and I had had breakfast in our very friendly hotel and when we met Graham again at the station. We’d decided to spend this hot day in Hyde Park, where we later met up with Tommy and Geoff as well. Graham and I walked along in the Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Fountain, which I love for so many reasons and we had lunch at The Lido, where I swam with the geese last year. Later on, we moved to a grassy bit to hang out until Els and I had to make our way back to St. Pancras.
Weird and wonderful Tommy planned to wave us goodbye and since we still had half an hour and since this station has the longest champagne bar in Europe, we had a little stop there. Funny coincidence is that I (not an experienced alcohol drinker) had said to Tom once that I never had champagne and he thought that should be rectified one day. Now it was Els who came up with this idea and so we tried champagne after all. I’d said they would probably end up sharing my glass, but to be honest, I liked it enough myself.
Then it was really time to depart from London and Els and I enjoyed a nice meal on the Eurostar, before arriving at hers in the late evening. We even made it a bit later by chatting some more and eventually fell asleep after this lively weekend with our friends abroad, with whom we had been singing in the pub the night before. Thank you dear friends, you know who you are! It had been way too long again and I hope it doesn’t take as long before next. Ciao! Xx

And the station where we arrived, stayed over, and left from: St. Pancras.

About the video: “American Pie” performed spontaneously by Tom, Rona, Julianne, Els, Annie, Graham and Hanny, after the annual Royal Astronomical Society picnic, Sunday 1st of August, 2011. First bit’s a bit blur, but that’s probably how most people saw each other that eve anyways. Oh and I am behind the camera.
Love it
Edit: Sorry the video is no longer available. One of the singers could not cope with all the groupies.
Wat een prachtig station!
