Look what I recently found in my mailbox! The New Astronomy Guide – Stargazing in the Digital Age by Patrick Moore and Pete Lawrence, foreword by Brian May.
As Patrick and Pete explain in the preface: “Our motive in writing this book is to combine for the first time the science and practise of astronomy, with an account of the latest technology and techniques. Advice is given on choosing and using a telescope, teaming it with a camera, and capturing the sort of images which until recently could only be obtained with professional instruments.”
It’s the perfect book for all you amateur astronomy buddies out there. It combines Patrick’s knowledge on the universe (from as close as our Moon to beyond the stars) with Pete’s awesome pictures. From now on, if anyone asks me for telescope or camera advice again, I’ll point them to this! And if this didn’t convince you yet, you get a poster of Patrick’s Moon Map and full sky maps with it too!
(For the record, nobody is paying me to say this and no, my Voorwerp’s not in this book. I just knew you’d love it so I pointed it out. You’re welcome, hah).
