I had something official to do in London, so a trip was booked just for the day. But then the official plans got cancelled and I had a Whole Free Day in London (what a gift)! So I asked on twitter who’d like to come for dinner and these three lovely men spontaneously replied. Here’s a couple of sights I wouldn’t have wanted to miss.
I took the ferry again (which had been a while) and went to the beach first. How nice to recognise all these plants still. Ever since we got back from the island, I had missed the beach even more than usual. I tweeted this first picture too, asking someone to please remind me I had a boat to catch. It arrived in Harwich Monday morning and I was going to be a real tourist this time.
I’ve been here many times, but there’s always something new to see. In fact, I have several pictures of Freddie’s statue, but this was the first since the sign announcing the eleventh (!) season. It was sunny, as usual when I’m over, and I went to one of my favourite places (yeah, Starbucks). I did some “shopping” in Oxford Street (however cliché that sounds) and Vodafone told me they accidentally killed my number and I can’t have it back – just so you know.
I noticed there were still signs of the Olympics, when Graham found me and we walked on from the park to a lovely market. Todd and Geoff joined us and we sat down at the Canteen, where they had ‘Great British Food’. I had asked the guys if that wasn’t an oxymoron, but it turned out the (free range) food here really was great! And fun was had until I had to catch another boat that evening.
This time the ferry crew messed-up again and I ended up with the best room on the boat. The round window was the Kate-and-Leo-spot, but then in the comfort of my room. When this Queen of the world woke up the next morning, I could literally see the Hoek of Holland getting closer. At home I counted my blessings and my treasure items. One of the shells had a bird on it, painted by nature.
So yeah, still loving life in details. Thanks again to the guys for joining me xxx
