After telling the story of my famous discovery for ‘Pecha Kucha 043’ in Liège, I didn’t think they would still want me in their line up a month later in Maastricht, but I got an e-mail saying they did! There would be a whole new audience anyway and apparently they liked my talk. In the new audience I spotted ‘old’ friends though! One of them being the former member of the city council who once sent me a letter to congratulate me on my find.
New friends were made too, and it was good to see a few enthusiasts I’d met first in Liège. Apparently I had left some impression that last time, as there was a lovely bloke saying he signed up with the Zooniverse and a friendly lady said she’d seen my site and liked it. Thanks again! This time I was the last speaker and I think it went slightly better than the first one, although with there being video material of both talks, I’ll leave you to judge that yourself soon.
I hope the pictures, taken by Bert Janssen, bring across the lovely atmosphere to those who’ve missed it. It really was an amazing building too. And I again enjoyed the other presentations, especially the one about the ukulele. I’ll probably end up buying one of those before long actually. Anyway. After tonight there was a man who came to tell me twice that he really thought I was very inspiring. And I just felt privileged to pass the enthusiasm for astronomy on.
