Finally, I’m all packed. I think. I’m one of those over-organised people who keeps worrying about stuff they might have forgotten. The excitement is bigger though. I’m looking forward to it very much. To the trip and to meeting Ireland!
The other day I tweeted that I was on the phone for an interview with the Irish Metro. I’ll be in the newspaper this Monday. Cool, I’ll be there on Monday! Makes me think of that time when I was in the newspaper after the lecture in Dwingeloo. This woman on the train was reading ‘my article’, but didn’t realise that the girl on the picture was standing right behind her. I’m really curious as to what this reporter made of it. He asked me if I ever met an alien… (Er, not really, no). And if I thought Pluto was bullied (“Well, I don’t think Pluto really minds, to be honest”).
There’s also a radio interview planned on the Monday (15th June, I’m not exactly sure what time, but I need to be in the studio around 3.45pm – GMT+1) for the national Today FM. I think you can listen to it live, on their website. It’s still a thrilling thought to do radio… The conversation will be about my discovery and the lectures, of which I announced the dates not that long ago.
When I arrive in Dublin, I’ll meet Edd at the airport and together we will see lots of this pretty country in between. Next week, when we need to head back, we’ll travel to Oxford together, for a Galaxy Zoo meet-up. I think I’ll be able to tweet or post updates here in between though.
Anyway, I really should get some sleep. My mum is taking me to the station tomorrow morning and will water the fish, feed the plants, watch my house and babysit my dog while I’m enjoying this trip. Ireland, here I come!
