The arrival

Actually it was ABBA’s ‘The visitors’ which was humming in my head, while I was making sure my big and blue and heavy suitcase wouldn’t travel on its own in the bus to the airport…

I call it official now: I dislike airports. There are too many signs, I had to pay €60 extra all of a sudden and I forgot I still had a nice little bottle of orange juice in my handbag. The guy scanning the bag told me to get it out. While he was busy with the next bag, I accidently dropped the bottle on his side of the counter. My bad. I could easily have drunken it otherwise, but now he picked it up and said no: I was on the wrong side of the stupid line. If I wanted to drink it, I needed to go through the security again, for which I would have to stand in line again, just to get on his side of the line. I didn’t listen to his: “If I start making exceptions, blah blah…” anymore and found a seat in front of the message board.

The messages board only kept saying that flights between 10 and 11 am had already left, which probably had to do with the fact it was already noon indeed. Anyway: no gate for my flight yet. I kept staring and trying to read a magazine and staring again, but nothing happened. Until suddenly I heard this voice telling I had to get in line all the way back at gate number 1. Sigh.

(Yeah, I should’ve gone to bed earlier yesterday). But everything was suddenly good again when we were ready to land. The flight was fine as well, but when I saw the green country ahead of me, I almost wanted to hug it.

For now though, while I’m writing this, I’m stuck at Dublin airport until Edd’s slightly late plane arrives. And I can’t wait to get into the country.

Good old airports eh. Which is why I just like to get in my car and drive, although the Irish Sea would be a bit choppy in a small car. Thank goodness we have a tunnel to Europe ;)
